Emtrain’s integration with Workday Cloud Connect for Learning (CCL) allows you to sync Emtrain training content directly into Workday Learning — no more manual SCORM files uploads or content metadata maintenance. You can assign Emtrain training or make it available for self-enrollment just like any other course in Workday, and Learner training progress & completions are seamlessly captured & reported in your Workday environment.
What the Integration Does

Syncs selected content from Emtrain to your Workday tenant, including automatic updates to content metadata (such as title, description, thumbnails) and retirement status

Imports Emtrain content as external courses (not SCORM files) into Workday Learning, which can be assigned to Learners or made available for self-enrollment

Sends Learner progress and completion data via xAPI statements back to Workday in near real-time
How It Works
- Work with your Emtrain client support & implementation managers to set up the integration
- Choose the Emtrain content you'd like to sync — either individual titles or in bulk.
- Use Workday Learning to assign training, manage content availability for Learners, and view completion reports.
- Learners launch Emtrain training from Workday, authenticate via SSO, and complete the training in the Emtrain Learning environment. Their progress and completion data is automatically synced back to Workday.

- An active Emtrain Account with SSO enabled
We also recommend HRIS integration for user roster import to ensure accurate progress & completion tracking.

FAQs
Q: How is this different from SCORM?
A: SCORM requires downloading individual content files from Emtrain, uploading them to manually created Workday courses, and manual content metadata maintenance (eg. title, description, thumbnail, changes). With the CCL integration, Emtrain content is synced to your Workday Learning library as external courses, eliminating the need for manual content uploads & updates.
Additionally, Learners will need to authenticate into Emtrain via SSO and will experience a slightly different Learner environment (To Do list with potentially multiple content titles, Completed tab showing all finished training, etc.).
Q: Do I need to set up SSO and HRIS integration for this integration to work?
A: An SSO integration is required for Learners to authenticate into Emtrain when launching courses from Workday. We also strongly recommend using Emtrain’s HRIS integration to import your user roster to ensure accurate progress & completion tracking.
Q: Can we migrate from using Emtrain SCORM courses in Workday to this integration?
A: If you currently are uploading Emtrain SCORM courses into Workday Learning, it is possible to switch to using this integration, but it would require careful planning and significant change management for Learners. Things to consider include:
- We would create a new Emtrain account for you to setup the Workday CCL integration on, so you would lose Analytics data and Learner activity report continuity
- You would need to deactivate all Emtrain SCORM content in your Workday tenant which could prevent Learners who are in-progress on that content from completing it, so you’d need to time the switch appropriately.
- Learners would need to become accustomed to logging into Emtrain via SSO and get used to a slightly different Learner Environment (To Do list with potentially multiple content titles, Completed tab showing all finished training)

Q: Do I need to purchase any additional product(s) to enable this integration?
A: While you do not need to purchase any additional Emtrain products to enable this integration, you DO need to have an active subscription from Workday for Workday Cloud Connect for Learning (CCLRN) SKU. For more information and possible fees please contact your Workday Account Team.
Q: Will new Emtrain content be automatically added in Workday Learning?
A: No, you will need to manually select and sync new Emtrain content to Workday as we want to give admins complete control over what Emtrain content is imported to Workday and certain content titles require configuration prior to sync (eg. adding missing policies).
Q: Will I need to create and manage my learners in Emtrain?
A: Yes, you will need to import your Learner user roster into Emtrain to create accounts for all of your learners before they can access Emtrain content* through this integration. We strongly recommend you set up an HRIS integration to import your user roster automatically.
*Note: alternatively you can enable Just-In-Time provisioning to automatically create Emtrain Learner accounts the first time a Learner launches Emtrain content from Workday and authenticates via SSO. These Learner accounts would be populated with the information your SSO system provides.
Q. Will we still be able to use Emtrain’s Reports or Analytics features with this integration enabled?
A: You will still be able to access Emtrain’s Analytics & Insights features without issue.
Training completion reports will not be available in Emtrain, but Learner usage & training data is tracked and available for review on Emtrain’s Learning Activity Reports. Admins can also see the learner progress & completion data in Workday Learning .
