Social logins are a form of single sign-on (SSO) linked to social media accounts that enable users to securely log in to an application or website using their social media credentials. Emtrain supports social login with Google, Microsoft, and LinkedIn.
Social logins provide some of the same benefits as other forms of single sign-on (SSO) that Emtrain supports, including:
- Saving time and effort in creating and managing accounts for a variety of services
- Reducing the number of passwords that a user has to remember and maintain
- Presenting an additional authentication method, provided that users can validate their social media account credentials
Please review the following information if you are considering using a social login for your account:
- How does it work when Google login is enabled?
- If the account does NOT have Self-Signup enabled:
- Users first need to be added to the roster to be able to sign in with Google. Any user who has been added with an email address that is part of that company’s Google workspace will be able to log in with Google.
- If a user has not been added to the roster, they will not be able to log in with Google, even if their account is part of the company’s Google workspace.
- If the account HAS Self-Signup enabled:
- Users will be able to sign up for / log into the account with any Google account, including personal gmail.com addresses.

- This option is only available on accounts that have Self-Signup enabled.
- Any user with a LinkedIn account can use that to sign up for / log into the account.
- To enable LinkedIn social login you’ll need to provide your Client ID and Client Secret, found in your organization’s LinkedIn Developer Console. No additional configuration is required.
- Can I use a Social Login in conjunction with another SSO method?
- Yes, these options are not mutually exclusive. For example, contractors who have email addresses in your Google or Microsoft workspaces but don’t have access to your SSO portal can use the Social Login option, while employees use SSO.
